Obituary

On February 27th, Debbie Gober, loving wife, mother, sister, and devoted friend, passed away peacefully in Dallas Texas.

Born to Liz and Ed Butcher (now deceased), in Boston, Massachusetts, Debbie grew up in Cumberland Center, Maine with her sisters. Her family moved to Dallas in time to attend Thomas Jefferson High School. She then attended Stephen F. Austin State University and was a member of Sigma Kappa sorority.

After graduation from Stephen F., Debbie returned to Dallas, where she met the love of her life, Mark Gober at Lovers Lane UMC. Their marriage in Australia in October,1982 was the beginning of a fun-filled life that included family, world travel, and many cherished friends.

In 1989 Debbie and Mark moved back to Dallas, where in 1994, their family grew with the arrival of their cherished son, Cade.

Debbie loved spending time with her many friends, traveling, quilting, photography and scrapbooking. She and Mark regularly attended the Indianapolis 500 and never missed their annual vacation with friends in Cabo San Lucas.

Debbie was a long-standing member of Lovers Lane UMC in Dallas. She was a founding member of the Roaring 20's young adult Sunday school class, dedicated to her Discovery Sunday school class and over the years volunteered for many LLUMC activities including to teach children's Sunday School, assist in children's activities, and contributed on many LLUMC service teams, including Everybody's Christmas and the Food Ministry.

Debbie is survived by her loving husband Mark and son Cade; her sisters Cindy Phaup and Martha Butcher; her nieces Lindsey Phaup and Leslie Horn.

Mark, Cade, and the Butcher family will hold a Memorial Service to celebrate Debbie's life at 1:00 pm on Saturday, April 15, 2023, in the Shipp Chapel at Lovers Lane United Methodist Church, 9200 Inwood Road, Dallas, TX 75220. A reception at the church will follow. Debbie would be thrilled to see those she loved wearing bright colors at the service.
