Obituary

In Memory of Marita Katherine DeLisle… Marita K. DeLisle, 75, of Plano TX, passed away on Thursday, May 25, 2017 at her home, comforted by her devoted family and beloved pets after fighting a courageous battle with cancer. She was born in Watertown NY in 1942 to the late Clellon and Kathleen Bancroft. After graduating from Franklin High School in Rochester NY in 1960, she moved to Kettering, OH to live with her sister Anne. It was here she met the love of her life and husband, Richard D. DeLisle, stationed at Wright Patterson Air Force Base in Dayton OH. They were married in 1963 and moved to Bristol, CT where they began their family. New opportunities took the family from Connecticut to New Jersey, New York and Massachusetts, and then finally to Texas in 1988. Marita served the several communities in which she lived by being an active parishioner in her church, volunteering with Hospice and Meals on Wheels organizations and mentoring children through various programs in middle and junior high schools. Marita looked at the world with an artist's eye and a poet's heart. She enjoyed creating her own works through decorative tole painting and custom porcelain dolls, she continually worked on refining her surroundings based on her sense of balance, color and love of beauty in nature. She loved the ocean and anything to do with the sea and was most happy sitting on a bench enjoying the ebb and flow of the tide with her husband by her side. She cared deeply about her faith, was completely devoted to her family and never waivered in her commitment to either. She was very proud of helping her children and grandchildren accomplish all they could in life and her legacy lives on through their shared appreciation of design, music, animals and nature. Marita is survived by her husband and best friend of over 54 years, Richard D. DeLisle; daughter Kathleen Lodi and husband Robert of Chelmsford MA; son Richard DeLisle and wife Cathy of McKinney TX; daughter Danielle Bowen and husband Rees of Dallas TX; brothers Daniel Bancroft of Southgate CA and William Bancroft and wife Helen of Anchorage AK; her cherished grandchildren, Matthew DeLisle and Ava Bowen and several nieces and nephews. A private funeral mass will be held at St. Mark the Evangelist Catholic Church in Plano TX followed by a celebration of her life. Arrangements are under the direction of ARIA Cremation Service and Funeral Home 19310 Preston Road Dallas, Texas 75252 214-306-6700
