Donald Ellis Zimmers, 95, passed away on Tuesday, February 8, 2022, at his home in Frisco, TX. He was born March 15, 1926, in Altoona, PA. He started playing music at the age of nine, spent four years in the United States Air Force Band, and went on the road playing stand-up bass with his west coast jazz band after leaving the service. Don went on to spend more than sixty years in the music business, owned his own recording studio, and played the piano, tuba, and string bass. Don was a member of SAG-AFTRA and won four Clio awards for his work in advertising. Don truly lived life to the fullest through simple pleasures of reading, playing the piano, traveling to Hawaii and South Padre Island and spending time with his family. He also loved writing a musical Christmas card every year for his family and friends. Don is preceded in death by his wife, Peggy Miller Zimmers, his parents, Harold Ellis and Edna Rosenberger Zimmers, and his son, Forrest William Zimmers. He is survived by his former wife and the mother of his five children, Jency "Bee" Zimmers, his children, Sherri Dee Zimmers Clark (husband Chuck), Laura Beth Zimmers Tinner (husband John), Lee Ann Zimmers Cameron (wife Lisa), Alfred Ellis Zimmers, Deborah Joan Miller Pickerell, and Pamela Ann Miller White (husband Tom); his sister Lelia Zimmers Johnson, and his 15 grandchildren: Stacy Lockwood (wife Cindy), Jasmine Milberger (husband Matt), Dylan Cameron (partner Vi), Zen Chellew, Lauren Zimmers, Haley Zimmers, Ken Gibson (wife Nadiya), Stefanie Floodeen (husband Tom), Jamie Chandler (husband Kyle), Christine Armstrong (husband Devin), Jeff White (wife Melissa), Tom Gibson (wife Tarazza), Nikki Waring (husband Callum), Brian Pickerell (wife Jen), Amanda Germain (husband Stellio). Additionally, he had "eleventy million" great-grandchildren, (Actually, 13 nieces and nephews, and 36 great-grandchildren). Family, friends and others whose lives were touched by Don are invited to join in a celebration of life Saturday, February 26, 2022 from 2-4pm at Watermere Senior Living. A private family funeral service will follow. In lieu of flowers, family members welcome donations to The Family Place or to Urban Dreams Music and Arts Program.
