Dr David Blackwell passed away on Tuesday morning, July 16 after a short illness.

David was a lifelong Dallas resident, growing up on Ferguson Rd across from the Ferguson home when it was nothing more than a country lane. He served as Professor of Geophysics at Southern Methodist University for over 45 years. He was an avid outdoorsman; enjoying fishing, hiking, and rock hounding all across the Pacific Northwest states.

He was preceded in death by his parents – Doug and Tera Blackwell; and by his sister – Karen Blackwell Neblett.

He is survived by his wife of almost 60 years – Marianne Blackwell; his boys Steve and Jeff; his grandchildren Rachel Brown and David Blackwell; and 5 great-grandchildren – Ava, Bala, Veda, Sailor, and Lyric
