Duane Howard Dieterich, 61, passed away on July 24, 2026, in Providence Village, Texas. He was a cherished father, grandfather, husband, son, brother, and friend and will be deeply missed. He was preceded in death by his father, Charles Dieterich. He is survived by his beloved spouse of 37 years, Michiet Dieterich; children, Zachary Dieterich and Elizabeth Chaires; grandchild, Alexandria Chaires; son-in-law, Jonathan Chaires; mother, Arlene Dieterich; sister, Dawn Hand; brother-in-law, Brian Hand; sisters-in-law, Mimi Hurt and Barbara Richardson; and many nieces, nephews, and extended family members. Duane was born August 18, 1964, in Waco, Texas, and spent his childhood in Robinson, Texas. He attended Robinson High School, where he was a member of Varsity Football, Marching Band, Concert Band, and Stage Band. He then attended McLennan Community College (MCC), where he was awarded Certificate of Merit for Outstanding Scholarship in Engineering, and was a Student Supreme Court Clerk, and Student Supreme Court Chief Justice. After MCC, he attended Texas A&M University in College Station and received a Bachelor of Science in Industrial Engineering with a focus on Automated Manufacturing. During his time at A&M, he was awarded 2 Dean's List and Distinguished Student Awards. Duane held a strong belief in the Lord. He attended, St. Paul Lutheran Church, Concordia Lutheran Church, Mt. Olive Lutheran Church, Grace Lutheran Church, Lamb of God in Flower Mound, and Messiah Lutheran Church in Plano, Texas. At Messiah, Duane was an active member of the praise team, playing bass. He really enjoyed band practice, rehearsing songs, and learning new music to play with the praise team. He also enjoyed watching recordings of the services to find ways to improve his playing. Duane enjoyed giving back to others. In his professional life, he created many open-source projects, such as ODBCapture, Wiki Based Issues, and DTGen Project for other developers. In his private life, he flew his Cessna to Zapata, Texas to help conduct church services under the direction of a pastor. Additionally, when his son was in Cub Scouts, he served as Tiger Cub Leader, and Cub Master. Duane always tried to do the right thing, even when it was difficult. He was not afraid to ask questions and have hard conversations. He leaves behind countless memories that will be cherished by loved ones until we are reunited. A memorial service will be held on August 22, 2026, at 11:00am at Messiah Lutheran Church in Plano, Texas. In lieu of flowers, please make memorial gifts to Messiah Lutheran Church in Plano Texas.
