It is with great sadness that the family of Janet Ebey announces that she went to be with her Savior on August 18th, 2018 after a battle with Acute Myeloid Leukemia. Janet was welcomed into her eternal joy by her beloved parents Wayne and Phyllis Gifford, her husband John Ebey, and her brother Craig Gifford who each preceded her. Janet will be greatly missed by her six children Scott, Ryan, Chad, Shawn, Sharon, and Richard along with her thirteen grandchildren Austin, Addison, Tyler, Grayson, Carson, Hudson, Cameron, Calah, Ashlyn, Mary, Michelle, Hunter and Bryce. She also will be missed by her brother Rex Gifford. Janet was born September 25, 1947 in Waterloo, Iowa. She moved to Richardson, Texas in 1963 during her Junior year of high school and remained a Texan for the rest of her life. Janet's great passions were her family, teaching, and serving in her local church. She was a school teacher for 42 years, but even after "retiring" she continued tutoring students until just 8 months before her passing. She taught piano lessons and directed children's choirs from the time she was a teenager until she was diagnosed with AML. She loved the Methodist church and served in numerous roles throughout her life including Sunday school teacher, choir director, and children's ministry leader. There was not a week of her adult life that she wasn't serving someone in one of those three capacities. Janet leaves an incredible legacy of thousands of children she poured her love over, in many cases dramatically impacting their lives and setting them on a new course. She received her strength from the Lord and was a constant overflowing cup impacting the next generation. She did this with a gentle passion. Her life was love in action and she preached with and without words the good news, that we are loved by God and he desires us to know Him through His Son, Jesus Christ. A memorial service in Janet's honor will be held at 2:00 PM Wednesday, August 22nd, 2018 at the First United Methodist Church of McKinney, 315 N Church St, McKinney, TX 75069. In lieu of flowers or other gifts, the family is asking that donations may be made in her honor to Naomi's Village Cornerstone Preparatory Academy at http://bit.ly/janetebey. Arrangements are under the direction of ARIA Cremation Service and Funeral Home 19310 Preston Road Dallas, Texas 75252 214-306-6700
