Obituary

Sir Eduard P. Bogaerts

December 11, 1938 – October 31, 2024

Eduard Bogaerts, a beloved husband, father, and friend, passed away peacefully at 12:34 on October 31, 2024, surrounded by loved ones. Born in Belgium on December 11, 1938, Eduard led a life full of adventure, passion, and dedication.

In his early years, Eduard thrived as a gifted musician under the name Gordon Comets, performing with his band, The Hawaiian Strings. He was also deeply passionate about gymnastics and acrobatics, excelling in the creative and athletic pursuits that colored his youth.

Eduard attended college in Belgium, where he earned a degree in engineering, setting the stage for a distinguished career. His achievements extended beyond personal endeavors; he was honored as a Knight of Malta and a Knight of Peace for his work in building hospitals across Europe—a recognition that spoke to his kindness and deep commitment to helping others and also earned him the title of Sir Eduard Bogaerts. His work took him to Iran, where he contributed his skills to the oil industry and ultimately met the love of his life, Helen. They married, and soon after, welcomed their sweet daughter, Cathy, into the world. The family eventually moved to Texas, where Eduard continued his career and lived out his years, embracing the spirit of his new home with pride.

Known for his gregarious nature and infectious sense of humor, Eduard brought joy to everyone he met. He was a true Texan at heart, never leaving home without his cowboy boots—a small but essential part of his identity. His warmth and kindness touched many, and his social presence made him a fixture at gatherings. Eduard had a deep love for dancing and old country music, passions that kept his spirit vibrant and joyful.

He will be remembered for his kind heart, thoughtfulness, and his constant willingness to help others. He leaves behind his daughter, Cathy, his former wife, Helen, and a legacy of compassion and strength.
