Edward "Woody" Charles Berube Jr., 77, died at the Heritage House of Allen on June 30, 2022 after a long battle with melanoma. Woody was born April 28, 1945 in Fall River, MA. In his youth, he was a breakout sports star in both baseball and basketball, setting various records in high school (Durfee, class of '63) and college (Colby, class of '67). He chose to pursue baseball professionally and briefly signed a contract with the Pittsburgh Pirates organization before a back injury ended his career prematurely. After the military, Woody worked for Sylvania before landing a job with Xerox and relocating to Western New York. He continued his education at the Rochester Institute of Technology, earning his MBA in 1974. He developed a strong passion for golf, enjoying both the camaraderie and the competition of the sport. In 1976, he married Connie Thiebaud, and they had a daughter, Breanne, in 1979. When his daughter showed an aptitude for softball, Woody was beyond delighted to slip into the role of coach. In the early 2000s, the Webster Athletic Association honored both Woody and Connie for their support with a dedicated softball field at the town park. Woody continued to work at Xerox for nearly 40 years before retiring and moving to TX in 2010 to be closer to Connie's family and golf year-round. Survivors include his wife of 45 years, Connie Thiebaud Berube, of Allen, TX; his daughter, Breanne Berube, and her husband, Peter Pedini, of Milford, MA; his brothers, Richard and Ronald Berube, and their wives, Debra and Elizabeth Berube, of Fall River, MA; along with an enormous suite of in-laws, nieces, and nephews.
