Edwin Jennings Sorman (Ed, Rock, Da, Grandpa) passed away from cancer on December 22, 2023 at age 83. Ed was born February 9th, 1940, in Omaha Nebraska, to Jennings Edwin Sorman and Marie Eleanor Freed Sorman. After his parents divorced, Marie (mom) and Ed moved to San Diego. He attended high school at Herbert Hoover High until he graduated in 1958. He then went on to attend college courses at San Diego State. After college Ed moved back to Omaha where he met his wife of 53 years, Patricia Ann Givens. Pat had 4 children: Patti, Mike, Jan, and Rick, whom Ed immediately loved and accepted as his own. They married in 1964. They had one more child, Lori, who was born later that year. In 1981, Ed and Pat moved from Omaha to Plano, TX, after he was transferred by his company (Fram/Autolite). Ed enjoyed a long and prosperous career with Fram where he met many lifelong friends including Tom Randolph. He retired from Fram in 1997. They moved back to Pat's hometown of Beardstown, IL in 2001 to enjoy dear friends and family in their retirement years. They returned to Plano in 2015. After Pat passed in 2017, Ed courageously entered his "2nd Act" of life and bought a house to start over, including going back to work at Home Depot at 82 years old! In 2018 Ed met June Serafini, his loving and caring companion of over 5 years. With June, Ed was once again having a ball doing all the things he loved, including traveling to Florida, on cruises, the Grand Canyon, and visiting casinos. June was a wonderful partner and caregiver who was by Ed's side until he passed in December of 2023. Ed loved life. He had an eternal positive attitude and big smiles every day. He was always ready and willing to do the next thing with anyone, anytime. He truly "never met a stranger." He loved to dance, swim, enjoy music, food and drink, Nebraska football, and Texas Rangers baseball. But most of all, he loved his family. He is survived by his partner, June Serafini, his children: Michael Arnold (Jane McCain), Janet Arnold Lee (Randy Lee), Richard Arnold (Dawn Coleman Arnold), Lori Sorman Lofye (Ted Hajec). Brother-in-law James "Jim" Givens, niece Rhonda Givens Nerison, nephew Andy Givens (Jody) niece Tracy Givens, nephew K.D. Givens (Donna), niece Claudette Givens, and also grandchildren, Daniel Roemen, Lori Roemen Busch, Julie Roemen Kanavel, Parker Lee, Kevin Arnold (Maureen) Natalie Arnold Krayniski, Olivia Arnold Choate (Jeff), Anna Lofye, Jordan Hajec, Colby Hajec Faegins (Jake), Chad McCain (Melissa), and fifteen great-grandchildren.
