Elaine Roberta Stubblefield Elaine Roberta Stubblefield, 82, died peacefully at home early morning on Monday, January 2 nd , 2022. She lived with her daughter and son-in-law in Irving, TX. Mrs. Stubblefield was born April 30, 1939, in Bridgend South Wales, Great Britain to Harry and Alice Purnell. She was the sister of Phillip Purnell, graduated from nursing school in England and was an accomplished pianist. She moved to the United States (Galveston) in 1960 and was employed by Houston Memorial Hospital as an ER nurse. It was there when she met her husband at a neighborhood gathering. Elaine was married to Richard Romain Stubblefield on August 30, 1962, in Killeen, TX. They were parents to three children, Richard Stubblefield Jr., Mark Richard Stubblefield, and Helen Louise Stubblefield. After her stint as a nurse, she was a housewife and mother and was very involved with her children and their sports and activities. She was also President of the booster club at Mansfield High School. After her husband's passing, Elaine traveled extensively visiting her family back in Great Britain as well as traveling with her best friend, Ms. Joe Gibbs or her daughter Helen to many exciting places around the world including Greece, Austria, Scotland, Germany, and the Caribbean. Elaine was preceded in death by her husband Richard Stubblefield and by her son Mark Stubblefield. Elaine is survived by her daughter Helen Peck and her husband Mike Peck of Irving, TX, her son Rick Stubblefield and his wife Sandy Stubblefield of Atlanta, GA, her brother Phillip Purnell of South Wales, GB, her daughter-in-law Patsy Ledgerwood of Carrollton, TX., her nephews Martin Purnell (South Wales) and Bobby Stubblefield (Killeen, TX), her nieces Clare Davies (South Wales) and Judy Tyler (Killeen, TX) and her grandchildren Mandy and Chad Stubblefield (Atlanta, GA). A memorial service for Elaine will be held on Friday, January 7 th at 4:00 pm. It will be held at Aria Funeral Home at 1820 N. Beltline Road, Irving, TX 75061.
