Obituary

Elberta Claire Moore, known as Sunny by those who knew and loved her, passed away peacefully on Monday, September 3, 2018, in Lewisville, Texas. She was 84. Sunny was born in Sacramento, California to Elbert and Madeline Hodge on October 9, 1933. She was the second of three siblings. On November 29, 1952 Sunny married Charles Blaine Moore. They had five children. In her early years, Sunny spent her days being a keeper of her home and a devoted wife and mother, eventually settling down in Temple, Texas. Later, she was the manager for Jo Ann Fabrics in Temple, Texas, formerly known as Cloth World. Sunny loved to quilt, sew and knit, and was a member of the Wildflower Quilt Guild until her health prevented her from going to meetings. Her deepest love and affection, however, was for her grandchildren, who called her Nana. She often hand-made gifts for them and loved to show their pictures to anyone who would look at them. She is survived by her siblings, Sherry Morehouse of Oroville, California and Dr. Steven Hodge of Boulder, Colorado, three daughters, Tina Remias of Flower Mound, Texas, Jana Moore of Lewisville, Texas, Erika Mendenhall and her husband James of Temple, Texas, 10 grandchildren: Laura Vu, Levi Bartosh, Andrea Collins, John Remias, Melissa Gibson, Daniel Mendenhall, Erin Mendenhall, Rebekah Mendenhall, Seth Mendenhall, Ryan Mendenhall and 6 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, and 2 sons, Brian Wallace Moore and Martin David Moore. The family will be having a private celebration of her life at a later date.
