Obituary

Elizabeth "Betty" Partin Sloan passed away peacefully on October 30, 2025, at the age of 88 in Plano, TX. She was born to Kenneth and Wilma Partin in Asheville, NC on May 10, 1937.

After growing up in the mountains of North Carolina and graduating from the University of Miami, Betty lived in Texas for over 55 years where she raised her family. She enjoyed crafting and traveling and took many trips back to North Carolina including the beaches of the Outer Banks where she watched all her grandchildren grow up together. She was fond of all animals and would feed any creature that arrived at her back door, from birds, squirrels and bunnies to the occasional raccoon and opossum.

Betty was an active member of the First United Methodist Church of Richardson where she made lifelong friends. She also volunteered in libraries and loved to knit as part of the Legacy Knit and Crochet Club that donated items across Plano and Dallas.

Betty is survived by her husband of 62 years, Benjamin J Sloan; her three children, Susan Donovan (Scott) of Plano, TX, Ben Sloan (Lindsay) of Greenville, MS, and Elizabeth Arkay-Leliever (Christian) of Fairfield, CT; seven grandchildren, a great granddaughter and many nieces and nephews.

A service celebrating the life of Betty will be held at 2pm on December 16th at the First United Methodist Church of Richardson.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Betty's memory to the Clarke Schools for Hearing and Speech, 45 Round Hill Road, Northampton, MA 01060.
