Obituary

Ellen Landfear, a devoted patriot, trailblazer in technology, and spirited lover of music and travel, passed away on April 17, 2026, at the age of 84.

Born on January 31, 1942, in Tuscumbia, Alabama, Ellen carried her Southern roots with her throughout her life. As a child, she developed a lifelong love of music—especially Elvis Presley. She cherished those early memories and never lost her joy for dancing and singing along to his songs.

Ellen proudly served her country in the military as a systems engineer, contributing her intelligence, discipline, and dedication to her work. She continued to break barriers in her field, and in the 1980s, she served as Director for Women in Computing in Dallas, where she supported and inspired women pursuing careers in technology during a time of great change and growth in the industry.

Outside of her professional life, Ellen embraced adventure. She had a deep love for travel and took every opportunity to explore new places and cultures. She also had a well-known fondness for chocolate, a simple pleasure she never denied herself.

Ellen was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Richard Landfear. Though she had no children, she leaves behind a legacy of strength, independence, and passion that touched many lives.

She will be remembered for her vibrant spirit, her pioneering contributions, and her enduring love of music, travel, and life itself.
