Beverly Ann Eubanks, 88, of Frisco Texas, passed away on March 22, 2018. She was born in Lenapah Oklahoma to Bruce and Hazel Rogers on November 22, 1929. She was a certified member of the Cherokee Nation and a descendant of Jean Pierre Chouteau, who was honored with the title 'Father of Oklahoma.' At a young age, she was devoted to music and loved all things jazz. She was inspired by jazz artists Ella Fitzgerald, Sarah Vaughn and Billie Holiday. She loved to sing a jazz tune and was never too shy to perform on a minute's notice. She performed in choirs, quartets, music theatre and a one-time performance with Duke Ellington's orchestra. She served as choir director for many churches. In January 1971, Beverly married Fred Eubanks; they were married 39 years. While living in Mineral Wells Texas, she served as co-chairman of the Mineral Wells Symphony Association and volunteered for several community and church activities. After moving to McKinney, she was an active member of the Stonebriar Methodist Church choir and later sang with the Frisco Chorale. On her 80th birthday, she honored family and friends with a jazz concert that included one of her favorite tunes 'Sophisticated Lady' by Duke Ellington. In 2013, she was diagnosed with Lewy Body dementia. Although memories faded, her love of music never stopped. She continued to perform each week with karaoke sessions at Mustang Creek Estates of Frisco. Beverly is survived by daughter and son-in-law, Teri and Mike Rogers of Frisco Texas; son Thomas Sherrill of Newnan Georgia; granddaughters Ellie and Lucy Rogers, Jessica Sherrill and Sarah Poe; nieces and nephew Tami, Diana and Tony Bateman of Kirkland Washington, cousin Carol Mangels of Broken Arrow Oklahoma and members of the Eubanks family. Beverly is preceded in death by her parents, Bruce and Hazel, sister Wilma Clevett and her late husband Fred Eubanks of McKinney Texas. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be given to the Alzheimer's Association at www.alz.org. We want to thank caregiver Dawn Lewey and the staff at Mustang Creek Estates of Frisco for taking such wonderful care of Mom in her final years.
