Everett A. Williams Jr.

October 7, 1935 – July 23, 2024

Everett A. Williams Jr., a cherished husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, passed away peacefully on July 23, 2024, in McKinney, Texas. He was 88 years old.

Born on October 7, 1935, in Taunton, Massachusetts, Everett was the son of Abbiean and Everett A. Williams Sr. He graduated from Taunton High School in 1953, and shortly thereafter, was drafted into the Navy. Along with his twin brother Eddie, Everett served as a Gunner's Mate on the destroyer U.S.S. Hawkins DDR-873 during the Korean War. His dedication to service was paralleled by his academic achievements, earning both an associate degree and a bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering from Northeastern University.

In the late 1970s, Everett and his family moved to Texas. He worked for Texas Color Printers, General Electric, and DZ Atlantic, and was known for his strong work ethic. Everett was a devoted father, who cherished taking his family on camping trips and enjoyed working on and rebuilding cars with his sons. In his spare time, he loved working in his yard and socializing with friends over a beer.

After retiring, Everett worked at Home Depot and found great joy in spending time with his buddies and fellow veterans at the local VFW Post 2150. He was recently honored in the McKinney Veterans July Fourth Parade as the longest-living Korean War veteran at their post—a recognition he deeply valued.

Everett is survived by his beloved wife of 72 years, Dolores Williams, and their four sons: Scott Williams (Denise), Michael Williams (Christina), Jeffrey Williams (Debra), and Paul Williams (Ronald). He is also survived by 11 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren, as well as his sister, Jeanette DeLeon, and his brother, Eddie Williams.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Everett A. Williams Sr. and Abbiean Williams, as well as his sisters Margaret Murdoch and Frances Randle, and his brother, Jimmy Williams.

A memorial service will be held to celebrate Everett's remarkable life and legacy. The family extends their heartfelt gratitude to all who have supported them during this time.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to a veterans' charity of choice or to the VFW Post 2150 in McKinney.
