Floyd David Pettigrew, a man of great courage and boundless love, was born on March 6, 1939, in Gainesville, TX. Throughout his life, Floyd embodied these principles with grace and humility, a beacon of strength and service to his community.
Floyd dedicated his life to the service of others, most notably as a firefighter in Dallas. His commitment to his community was unwavering, and he brought a sense of safety and comfort to many during their most vulnerable moments. Floyds bravery did not end with his service as a firefighter. He was also a devoted husband to Dorothy Pettigrew and a loving father to his children, Tony and Angela. Floyd's life was a vivid illustration of the words of Maya Angelou: "Ive learned that people will forget what you said, people will forget what you did, but people will never forget how you made them feel."
Floyd is survived by his loving wife, Dorothy, and his children, Tony and Angela and his sister Joann and brother George. He is preceded in death by his parents, Willard and Pauline and brother Karl Pettigrew. Floyds legacy of love, service, and courage will continue to live on through his family and all those whose lives he touched. A funeral service to honor and celebrate Floyd's life will be held on Friday, July 21, 2023, at 11:00 am CDT at Aria Cremation Service & Funeral Home, located at 1820 North Belt Line Road, Irving, Texas, 75061.
