Frances E. Tynan, age 83, of Dallas, TX passed away peacefully on January 30, 2023, after a full and loving life. Fran was born in Nederland, Texas in 1939 to the late Patrick and Beula Tynan. She was the last of seven children. She attended St. Charles Grade School in Nederland and graduated high school at St. Vincent's Academy in Shreveport, Louisiana. She graduated from Marillac College in Normandy, MO, in 1964 with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Social Studies and French. A true renaissance woman and special one of a kind, she had a diverse career which showed in her limitless capacity to listen, understand, and teach. She embraced knowledge, put that knowledge to incredible use while enriching her friends, family, and coworkers. Frances started her professional career as a nun where she made her mark as a teacher and quickly moved up as a director of religious education for a Houston Parish. After leaving the convent, she became an expert in organizational development and worked for numerous companies including Allstate, before retiring from Exxon Mobil. In retirement Fran continued to be of service as a devoted leader and worker for many non-profit and community causes, serving as a Chaplain for St. Michael's Hospice. She volunteered as a Reading Buddy at Sidney Lanier Expressive Arts Vanguard (now Jesus Moroles Expressive Arts Vanguard) in West Dallas with more than 500 hours and served as a member of the Board of Directors for Readers 2 Leaders. Fran was a devoted supporter to the Resolana program serving incarcerated women. She volunteered inside the jail as a mentor and served on the boards of directors for both Resolana as president and, after a merger, she helped orchestrate Volunteers of America Texas. She was honored with the agency's Difference Maker award in 2018. She was always involved in local community development and urban renewal in Dallas and an ardent supporter of music and the arts where many of her friendships were formed. She was a beloved chorister in the Cathedral Guadalupe choir for many years. Along with her commitment and generosity to charitable causes, she had deep care for her family and friends. One of her biggest joys was when friends dropped by to visit and stayed for a glass of wine. She was always up for a culinary adventure. Her greatest enjoyment was the time she spent with her four-legged friends. She delighted in hugs and walks over the years with Bear, Blossom, Singsing, TC, Dora, Clarice and many others. In her later years, Fran continued to enjoy life and laughter. She could be seen taking her daily bike ride around her neighborhood, a community she loved. She will always be remembered for her deep personal connections and how special her friends and family were to her. Fran is survived by numerous nephews and nieces as well as her life-long connections to her friends. A funeral mass will be held at the Cathedral Guadalupe, 2215 Ross Avenue Dallas on Saturday, March 18, 2023, at 10:00am.
