Fred Konrath- Obituary
Fred Konrath, a devoted husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather and man of faith, passed away leaving behind a legacy of love, strength, and family.
Fred was born to immigrant parents, Raymond Konrath and Rosalia Lorenz, who came from a small town in Austria. He grew up alongside his siblings, Raymond, Joseph, Mary, and Lora, on a farm in Covert Township near South Haven, Michigan. He earned his master's degree in teaching from Western Michigan University and worked as a technical illustrator and writer. His early years shaped his strong work ethic, humility, and deep appreciation for family.
On June 10, 1958, Fred married Joan Ruth Misch, the love of his life. Together, they built a home grounded in love and faith, eventually settling in South Bend, Indiana. They were blessed with four children: Cheryl (married to Donald) Woods, Kevin (married to Tina) Konrath, Fred (married to Medorah) Konrath, and Lori (married to Steve) Outlaw. Early in the 1980s, Joan and Fred moved to Kingwood Texas where they resided for over 30 years. They had built a community with their friends and neighbors as well as being involved with their local church.
Fred and Joan shared 49 years of marriage before Joan's passing on November 13, 2007. He carried her memory with him always, finding comfort in God's promise of eternal life.
Fred was a proud grandfather to eleven grandchildren: Branden Woods, Haley Woods, Kaitlyn (Woods) Randolph, Ashley (Konrath) Wilson, Megan Konrath, Lin Konrath, Ryan Konrath, Hunter Pacheco, Aatie Pacheco, Kayla (Outlaw) McBride, and Steven Outlaw. He was also blessed with three great-grandchildren: Easton Randolph; Cohen McBride; and Avaleigh McBride, who brought him great joy.
Fred will be remembered for his quiet strength, kind heart, and unwavering devotion to his family. His life reflected a steady faith and a deep love for those around him. We take comfort in knowing he is now at peace in God's presence and reunited with Joan.
