Obituary

Tyler Gage Monden, age 32, passed away at Medical City Dallas Hospital on Sunday, February 1, 2026.

Gage was born on January 2, 1994, in Pampa, Texas. He spent most of his life in the Dallas Fort Worth metroplex in order to be closer to his medical care team. He graduated from Plano West High School where he was a member of the bowling team and was the wrestling team manager. Gage was a huge sports fan, especially for University of Texas football. He played flag football, golf, softball, track, gymnastics, bowling and swimming as part of the Special Olympics, participated in multiple Celebrity All-Star Games, and played baseball with the Miracle League. He even learned how to surf, and parasailed, during his Make-a-Wish trip to Hawaii and snorkeled the Great Barrier Reef, road the Kuranda and road 4-wheelers through the rain forest in Australia with his mom and brother. He also learned to snow ski when he was young and loved riding his 4-wheeler. He loved tractors and wanted to live on a farm so he could have chickens and sell eggs. He was an avid gamer. You could often find him with his gaming headset on, getting overly excited while playing Fortnite or farming simulator with his buddies. Gaming kept him entertained during his hospital stays and there were plenty of times that he even fell asleep with his headset on and the controller in his hands. He loved coffee from a young age and would often hassle his nurses and techs at the hospital into sneaking him more cups. He knew all of the hospital staff he came in contact with by first name and some of them he loved to tease and call the wrong name just to make them laugh. He was never one to complain about his medical conditions and would always try and comfort others who were sick. He cared deeply for others and enjoyed spoiling his little cousins Ezra and Amila. Whether in the hospital, at home with his dogs, or with family and friends, he was always laughing and cracking jokes. He never met a stranger and would talk to anyone willing to listen.

He will never be forgotten, because he touched so many lives.

He is survived by his mother Stacy Monden, brother Gary Monden of Frisco, Texas , father Brian Monden, step-mother Lesley Monden, step-sister Laynie Monden of Borger, Texas and extended family members Delane Horn, Christy, Daniel and Sarah Espino, Emily, Andrew, Ezra, and Amila Flores, Suzy, James, Lauren and Hayden Hough, Schad, Linda, and Colton Monden & family, as well as many other friends, family, and medical care providers, along with other hospital employees, that loved him and will miss him greatly.

He is preceded in death by great-grandparents Travis and Helen Horn, Jack and Nina Roark, Clea and Stella Sims and Raymond Clark, grandparents Eddie Joe Horn and Luke and Betty Monden.
