Gary Curtis Crawford, 86, of Celina, Texas, passed away surrounded by his family in Frisco, Texas on February 25, 2024 after a battle with cancer. He was a loving husband to Nancy Wyman Crawford for 68 years and a devoted father, grandfather, and great-grandfather. Gary was born May 26, 1937 in Bartlesville, Oklahoma, to Ramon and Isabel "Johnnie" Crawford. Gary attended Caney High School where he met Nancy, the love of his life. After graduating high school in 1955, they were married on October 28. Gary started working for Philips Petroleum in maintenance, showing up for his first day with his toolbox and very little knowledge of what he was doing. From that tenuous start, he moved up to higher-level positions and continued working for the same company through many mergers and acquisitions. At the time of his retirement in 1997, he had 42 years of continuous service. Music was a significant part of Gary's life. He had a powerful voice that could fill a room. He sang in many church choirs and filled the hearts of those who heard him express his joy through singing. Gary was involved in several churches over his lifetime, including teaching the Wesley class at the First United Methodist Church in Mabank, Texas. From the time a World War II pilot flew his P38 over his elementary school, Gary had a passion for planes from that era. He and Nancy traveled to many sites throughout the country and stopped in every air and car museum along the way. He was overjoyed to get the opportunity to fly a restored T-6 Texan training plane and perform a victory roll. Gary's greatest joy and accomplishment was his 68-year marriage and raising a wonderful family. Since retiring, he lived close enough to his children and grandchildren to enjoy countless family cookouts, boat rides at the lake, and many celebrations. Gary was a hard-working, honest, family man who could learn to do anything. If it was broken, he could fix it; if it didn't exist, he could build it. Gary approached life with a great sense of humor and was always optimistic. Gary is preceded in death by his parents Ramon and Johnnie Crawford, brother Ray Crawford, and his sister Pat Watkins. He is survived by his wife, Nancy Crawford, son Curt Crawford, daughter-in-law Denise Crawford, daughter Kristy Posey, son-in-law Rick Posey, daughter Kathy Crawford, granddaughter Makayla Martin and her husband Jeffrey Martin, great-grandson Jaden Gray Martin, granddaughter Madison Crawford, and adopted daughter Amber Rogde and grandsons Hudson, Kingston, and Judah Rogde.
