George Murray Hulbert "Hul" Kenney - age 82, passed away on October 3, 2024, in Plano, TX. He was born on August 4, 1942, in New York City, NY to Joseph and Regina Kenney. He is survived by his cherished wife of 40 years, Nancy P. Kenney, son K.C. Kenney and wife Laura, daughter Lori Prynn, son J.P. Kenney and wife Kimmie, son Tim Kenney and wife Tracye, son Collin Kenney, (9) grandchildren: Taylor Sipes and husband Matt, Courtney Foster and husband Braden, McKenna Brynn and wife Nic, Abby Prynn, Holly Turnbull, Zach Kenney and wife Lindsay, Patrick Kenney and wife Adelaide, Connor Kenney, and Camryn Kenney; and (7) great-grandchildren: Tommy, Hannah, and Troy Turnbull; Nolan, Blake, and Avery Sipes; and Logan Foster. Hul was preceded in death by his parents, sister Regina, and brother Lawrence.
Hul began his career in fashion on 7th Ave, NY in 1963, and was an early pioneer in 1967 as the Dallas Apparel Mart became the central US hub for women's, men's, and children's apparel and accessories. For 35 years Hul worked for, partnered with, and evolved himself as one of the premier names in the garment business. Hul reinvented himself in the background screening business, helping launch and developing two successful companies. Throughout, Hul was recognized as a staunch proponent for diversity in leadership.
Hul Kenney was an active member of St. Andrew Methodist Church where he was a long-time member of the choir and the Methodist Men of St. Andrew. A Memorial Service will be held on Friday, October 25th, 2024, at 11:00 am at St. Andrew Methodist Church in Plano, Texas.
