Obituary

It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of George R. "Bob" Wagner of Dallas, TX on October 15, 2024, at Texas Health Presbyterian Hospital, Plano, TX.

Mr. Wagner was born on June 4, 1933, in Grosse Point Shores, MI. He grew up in Garden City, NY and Shelter Island, NY where he spent his summers and weekends.

Mr. Wagner also lived in Wantagh, NY, Wilton, CT, Princeton, NJ and Dallas, TX, before retiring to Seneca, SC in 1996 to the Lake House he built before returning to Dallas, TX with his wife in 2004.

Retired in 1996 from Boy Scouts of America (BSA) National Headquarters serving as Comptroller for over 25 years. Prior to BSA, Mr. Wagner worked for Great Northern Nekoosa (Stamford, CT), Irving Trust Bank (NY, NY), Arthur Young Accounting (NY, NY) and Arthur Andersen Accounting (NY, NY).

Mr. Wagner was a Graduate of St. Paul's School (Garden City, NY), William College, Williamstown, MA (BA 1955), Columbia University, NY, NY (MBA 1956).

Drafted by US Army in 1956, Honorable Discharge 1959.

Met his future wife in 1949 and Married June 9, 1956, for over 68 years to Margaret Mary Kennedy, daughter of John F. Kennedy and Margaret Kennedy of NY, NY (who both immigrated to the USA from Ireland).

Hobbies: Golf, Travel, Fishing, Sailing/Boating and Gardening.

His family was his greatest achievement and what he took most pride in.

He is survived by Wife-Margaret "Peggy" Mary Wagner (Kennedy), Daughter-Terry Ann Sampson (Wagner), Son-William "Bill" G. Wagner, Grandson-Matthew W. Sampson, Granddaughter-Kristen M. Thomas (Sampson), Great Granddaughter-Grace Kennedy Sampson, Great Granddaughter-Abigal Leigh Sampson.

He was preceded in death by Father-George Wagner, Mother-Grace Christine Wagner (Salzman), Brother-Warren Edward Wagner.

Funeral & Memorial Service details are to be announced, but will be held at: St. Mathias Anglican Church, 3460 Forest Lane, Dallas, TX 75234.

In lieu of flowers, Bob Wagner was a supporter of Tunnel to Towers and family would kindly ask that any contributions be sent to Tunnel to Towers in his name.
