Gerald Dean Lobe
November 22, 1938 – May 31, 2026
It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Gerald Dean Lobe, age 87, of Plano, Texas, on May 31, 2026.
Born on November 22, 1938, in Lind, Washington, Gerry was the son of David Lobe and Magdalena Waymire. He was one of eight children and was preceded in death by seven of his siblings.
Gerry proudly served in the Washington Air National Guard as a member of the Honor Guard Company. From 1956 to 1962, he was assigned to duty with the United States Marine Corps in Washington, D.C.
He met the love of his life, Frances Hess, at a USO dance in Washington, D.C. They were married on May 24, 1958, at Arlington Methodist Church in a military wedding. Together, they built a life filled with love, devotion, and adventure.
Gerry is survived by his beloved wife of 68 years, Frances Lobe; his son, Glenn Kevin Lobe and wife, Stacey, of Whitehouse, Texas; his daughter, Victoria Lobe-Schumka and husband, Mark, of Prosper, Texas, and their children, Parker DeLaCruz and Slater DeLaCruz; his son, Erik Lobe and wife, Tricia, of Ewa Beach, Hawaii, and their son, Lukas Lobe; and his daughter, Emily Lobe-Welch and husband, Joshua, of Plano, Texas, and their children, Lilly Welch of Nashville, Tennessee, and Andrew, Ryan, and Maggie Welch of Plano, Texas. He is survived by his brother, Billy Waymire of Spokane, Washington. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
A devoted husband, father, grandfather, and lovingly known as "Pal," Gerry dedicated his life to his family. Throughout his career, he held various sales positions, primarily within the electronics industry. Over the years, he and Frances made their homes in Fairfax, Virginia; Greensboro, North Carolina; Daytona Beach, Florida; Modesto, California; and Plano, Texas.
Gerry will be remembered for his unwavering work ethic, kindness, and wonderful sense of humor. He loved meeting people and never knew a stranger. He always had a story to tell and enjoyed sharing memories with family and friends.
He was a devoted fan of the San Francisco 49ers and the Washington Redskins. He loved traveling with Frances and treasured the many adventures they shared together. He and Frances rarely missed a game, faithfully attending their grandchildren's sporting events and taking great joy in supporting each of them from the sidelines. He enjoyed fishing, golfing, watching classic Western movies, learning about military history, and collecting coins.
He had a sweet tooth and especially loved Fran's lemon meringue pie. The night before he passed, he was surrounded by his loving family, enjoying popsicles and root beer.
His legacy of love, laughter, dedication, and devotion to family will live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved him.
