Linda Jean Gigowski Linda Jean Gigowski of Frisco Texas passed away at her home October 6th, 2015 in the presence of her husband Rick and son Mark. "To be absent from the body is to be present with the Lord" (2 Cor 5:8) is the peace and joy that we now have for Linda. Linda was born and raised in Dallas and graduated from Sunset in Oak Cliff, class of 69. She attended what is now known as the University of North Texas. She married her husband Rick in 1975 which began a marriage typical to most in the struggles everyone experiences although was highlighted by the joy of working closely with her husband. The low points were trying to teach her husband to country western dance and the high points were being one with her husband. Linda and her husband worked side by side for the majority of their 40 years of married life. Building successful businesses and helping others through meeting their insurance needs as independent agents. The highlight of her life was her family, mission trips, local ministry service and great food. Linda is survived by her husband Rick Gigowski, her son Mark Gigowski, her mother Dorothy Foster and her sister Sherry Wilson. Mark has blessed the family with his beautiful wife Donna Gigowski, two grandchildren, Shawn and Haley Gigowski. Shawn and his wife Amanda have blessed her with a great-grandson, Lolek who as of this date is turning 2 in a few days. Linda's love for her family was un-parralled in that nothing was out of her reach or understanding. The birth of Lolek was a joy & blessing. Her grandchildren are highlights to her and she would constantly pray for them and their mother and father. Her grandson Shawn today is a police officer in North Carolina and granddaughter is on her first year of college in her journey to becoming a marine biologist. She was especially proud of her son Mark and grandson Shawn in their service to their country. Mark is career Army and has served in numerous capacities and missions. Shawn served in the Marines for 4 years seeing action in Afghanistan. It is difficult to know your children could be and are in harm's way and while you hold your breath waiting for an email, a phone call or any sign that all is well, you pray fervently. A mothers love. As anyone else, she was looking forward to seeing her family grow and mature. Linda had a passion for reaching others through any means of witnessing she could. Blunt in your face or just through showing the love of the Lord by being an unconditional friend. Because of this, she has touched and affected numerous lives that have gone on to replicate that love and passion. An example is her desire to travel the world on various mission trips to either help the sick or to spread the Word. In her travels she reached people in Northern and Southern India, Ethiopia, Kenya, Paraguay, Dubai and the toughest of all, St. Kitts in the Caribbean. Linda served in various ministry capacities where ever she attended church. Holy Cross Catholic Church in The Colony Texas where she taught Life in the Spirit classes, Christian Community of God's Delight in Dallas as Junior High ministry leaders for years and summer camp cooks, First Family Church as "the Choir Lady", Home Group leader and member of the Men's Ministry through her husband Rick although never seen as a member, her influence was there and as a vocalist in the choir. Linda also loved good food, correction… great food. To the point that she could prepare a meal for two that was stellar or a meal for hundreds that would satisfy any pallet. Linda quickly acquired the moniker of "food snob" because if you're going to do it, give the best possible or don't do it at all. She came a long way from the canned soup, rice and chicken in the oven casseroles. Linda has many friends… to many to mention but know that she loved everyone and would give the shirt off her back whenever needed. Testimonies to her friendship are found everywhere. She never met a stranger. Her attitude was to give the street person a hand out and say, "It's God's problem if the person spends it on the wrong stuff, it is our job to love them." She loved to randomly bless people by buying lunches or to randomly pay for someone's purchase in the store. She was also known by many as a klutz. She was like a moth to a flame when it came to having an unexpected tumble… whether it is a fall, a wall, a trip, a stumble… Linda was up for the task. The best example was in Paraguay, Linda was on stage team teaching to a group of young girls about purity, and when the pastor was reaching the peak of the message, Linda walked to the back of the stage backwards and just disappeared off the back of the stage. Unhurt but the seriousness of the message was lost in laughter. Another one of her traits. Please join us in celebrating the life of Linda this Friday night and Saturday. Please come prepared your favorite memory of Linda either in writing or at the open mic. The family is looking forward to hearing how Lindas influence on other affected them crazy or otherwise.
