Obituary

Ruth Skiffington Gilmore passed away peacefully and surrounded by family members in Irving, Texas, on Jan 23, 2017, at the age of 96. Born in Ellensburg, Washington, she was the daughter of the late George and Agnes Skiffington. She was preceded in death by her brothers John, Lennon, Dennis, Mark, Mike and Tom Skiffington as well as sisters Marie Schille, Lorraine Dimak, Gertrude Vlahovich and husband Robert Gilmore. During World War II, she worked at the Boeing Aircraft Company factory in Seattle, Washington, as a parts expeditor. She took rivets to "Rosie the Rivetor". She was a long time resident of Grand Prairie, Texas and a member of the Nottingham Neighbors Association. In 1997, she was named "Woman of the Year" for her selfless contributions to the association's charitable fund raising efforts. She was nanny, babysitter, house sitter, and dog watcher to many families in the neighborhood. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, aunt and friend. She is survived by her son Gerald Richardson, daughter-in-law Sheila Hall Richardson, grandson John M. Richardson, wife Amber, great- granddaughter Sofia and many nieces and nephews. A memorial service is planned for February 18th with internment to follow in Seattle, Washington. Details to be announced later.
