Glee L. Pitney March 26, 1932 - January 6, 2022 Glee L. Pitney was born on March 26, 1932, in Findlay, Ohio, to Charles and Pauline (Cusac) Pitney; and he passed from death in Dallas, Texas, to life in his heavenly home on January 6, 2022. Glee enjoyed growing up in Findlay and working in his family's trucking company. At Bowling Green State Univ., Glee was a fraternity member of Phi Kappa Tau and was involved in ROTC, but meeting Gail (Gay) Richardson in his Freshmen English class changed his life forever. Glee and Gay, the happy couple, began their path in life together as husband and wife in 1954. Glee fulfilled his military obligation with the Army in South Korea at the DMZ as a Battalion Motor Officer and left as a 1st Lieutenant. After returning to Ohio, Glee and Gay later welcomed their daughter, Virginia (Ginny), and son, Jack. Glee enjoyed driving trucks with Marathon Oil, but after gaining a master's degree, he quickly rose up the management ranks. New career paths took him to several different companies and seven states. For a time, Glee owned the Wheeler D'ler bicycle store in Richardson, Texas. But the essential path to Glee was not his career path but the path that would determine his final destination after life. At age 35, Glee turned over his life to Christ and thus began his new lifelong path of service and love for his Lord and Savior. Glee faithfully served in each church he attended, mostly in leadership roles. He was involved in Gideons International and a Bible memory program. Within the community, Glee volunteered with Jr. Achievement and neighborhood associations. He sang in the church choir with Ginny and coached baseball with Jack. Glee loved taking his family on road trips, many to his in-laws' lake house on Lake Erie. Glee's collection of model trucks was very special to him, and he also enjoyed trying to better his already good golf game. He loved attending sports and activities of each grandchild and being involved in their lives. Once retired, Glee and Gail enjoyed more traveling and many international cruises. As a "Pioneer" at Highland Springs Sr. Living, Glee threw himself into serving on or starting many committees. Highland Springs now enjoys a beautiful Veteran's Park he helped initiate. In 2015, Glee was recognized for his military service by Honor Flight and was flown to Washington, D.C. In 2021, Glee received a Congressional Veteran Commendation from the 3rd Congressional Dist. by the U.S. House of Representatives. Dedicated and task-oriented, his strength of character and love for family and his Lord carried Glee until the very end. "Well done my good and faithful servantenter into the joy of the Lord." Matthew 25:21. Glee's parents and brother Keith O. Pitney predeceased him in death. Glee is survived by loving wife of 67 years, Gail; daughter Virginia (Allan) Journey, son Jack (Cindy) Pitney; grandchildren Jason (Ankara) Journey, Tara Journey, Mark (Molly) Pitney, Brent (Danielle) Journey, Will Pitney, and Janet Pitney; great-grandchildren Luke, Maggie, Leah, Everett, Lincoln, Claire, and Emma; and two nephews, Michael Pitney and David Pitney. Glee L. Pitney was interred at the Dallas-Fort Worth National Cemetery on Monday, January 17, 2022.
