Obituary

With heavy hearts and deep gratitude for a life so well lived, we share that Glynnis Jean Jones Wood passed away on February 8, 2026. She leaves behind not just memories, but a legacy of wisdom, laughter, faith, and unwavering love.

Born on July 31, 1953, in Portsmouth, Virginia, to Eugene Harold and Ethelyn Jeanne Eighme Jones, Glynnis grew into a woman whose gentle spirit and sharp wit were matched only by her fierce devotion to the people she loved. She had a remarkable way of making others feel seen, steadying life's chaos with practical wisdom and humor delivered at just the right moment.

Glynnis graduated Magna Cum Laude from the University of Colorado, Denver, earning her bachelor's degree in business and accounting. She later received an Associate Certificate in Project Management from George Washington University and became a Certified Public Accountant in Texas. Her professional accomplishments were significant, but what truly set her apart was the integrity and care she brought to everything she did.

Her career spanned banking, leadership in accounting and regulatory reporting at Bluebonnet Savings Bank, and service with the FDIC. She later continued supporting the FDIC through Watkins Consulting. For three decades, she also served as co-owner and CFO of Water Tech Pool Services, helping grow and sustain the family business with diligence and heart. To colleagues and clients, she was trusted, steady, and wise — someone you could rely on completely.

But Glynnis was so much more than her résumé.

She was a woman of deep and abiding faith, living out Christ's love in quiet, consistent ways. She cared fiercely for her family and community. She was an avid quilter, pouring creativity and intention into every stitch...much like she did with her relationships. She believed in showing up, in doing things well, and in loving people fully.

Above all, Glynnis cherished her family. She is survived by her loving husband of nearly 35 years, Robert Edward Wood Sr.; her son, Robert Edward Wood Jr. and his wife Hannah Nicole Pittman Wood of Dallas, Texas; her sister, Malinda J. Hickey and her husband Mark Hickey of Richmond, Texas; and her brother, Lawrence "Larry" Jones and his wife Patricia Horton Jones of Dayton, Nevada. She poured herself into those she loved, always placing their well-being at the center of her life.

Glynnis will be remembered not only for what she accomplished, but for who she was — a devoted wife and mother, a trusted friend, a thoughtful mentor, and a woman whose compassion quietly made the world around her better. She loved deeply, led steadily, and leaves behind a space that cannot be filled, only honored.

A celebration of her beautiful life will be held at Northwest Bible Church on April 11, 2026, at 2:00 p.m.
