Sylvia Guerrero age 77 passed away on Thursday, January 7, 2021. She was preceded in death by her husband of 50 years Joel Guerrero and her two brothers Sergio Martinez and Alfonso Manuel Manrique. She is survived by her sister Amada Lemus, her three children and their spouses Sylvia & Howard Smith, Joel & Alicia Guerrero and Elizabeth & Shawn Greer, her grandchildren Carlos, Deanna, Bella, Megan, Christopher, Michael, Shawn & Joel and 2 great grandchildren. Sylvia attended vocational school in her birthplace of Monterrey Nuevo Len, Mexico where she studied to be a bilingual secretary. But Sylvia was very resourceful and easily adapted to other job opportunities after moving with her family to the United States in her mid 20's. She took on several different crafting, sewing and office jobs and over the years she and Joel even opened three restaurants including the popular "Las Brisas Mexican Restaurant" which was featured on 'D' magazine in 1996. But her most treasured job was that of production manager for Peacock Alley. Sylvia was one of the first seamstresses to work with MaryElla Gabler, owner and founder of Peacock Alley. Sylvia quickly became an integral part of the success of the company in which she took much pride. 2021 marked the 50th year of Sylvia and MaryElla's long term friendship. Sylvia will always be remembered as a hard working, caring person who took good care of her family and always strived to provide the very best for all of them. She loved to garden and keep up with her roses and indoor houseplants. Some might not know that she liked to sing and act silly just to make you laugh. She was a free spirited soul with a love for travel and a knack for making something out of nothing.
