Sir Mick Jagger once sang, "you can't always get what you want." This proved true on March 12, 2015, when we lost a great man, James "Jim" Hanrahan. He passed away in Plano, TX due to complications following COPD at the age of 72. Jim was born on July 21, 1942 in Green Bay, WI to Robert Hanrahan and Jean Karnas (ne Boyden). He graduated from West High School in 1960, and the University of Wisconsin with a degree in Pharmacy in 1965. In 1973 he married the love of his life, Jean Haven. They celebrated their 42nd wedding anniversary just prior to his passing. Jim worked as a pharmacist for many years in the Green Bay area. In 2011 he and Jean retired to Carrollton, TX, to escape the Wisconsin winters and care for their grandchildren. To know Jim was to know his wicked sense of humor. His ability to make people laugh (and laugh at himself) was one of his greatest attributes. He was an avid music fan, especially when it came to The Rolling Stones. He and Jean traveled many places in the world over the years to see them in concert. Cars were a lifelong passion of Jim's. For over 30 years he and Jean ventured to Indianapolis to attend the Indy 500 with family and friends. Above all, he loved his family very dearly, and was an exceptional husband, father, and grandfather. Jim is survived by his wife, Jean, sons, Brian and Sean (Sonja), daughter, Erin (Rod) Cruz; and six grandchildren, Lauren, Michael, Alexandria, and Jakob Hanrahan, Eamon and Nico Cruz. A memorial celebration will take place on April 11, 2015 at 3:00 p.m. in the Hanrahans' home. All are welcome to attend and celebrate Jim's life.
