Hawk, Roger Gust (Rog) April 2, 1941-January 19, 2018

Roger "Rog" Gust Hawk was born on April 2, 1941 in Chicago, IL to Robert and Alberta Hawk. He grew up in Chicago, IL with his older brother, Kenneth Hawk, and younger brother, Gary Hawk. Roger graduated from Lane Tech in Chicago , IL and, in 1966, Roger moved to the Pacific Northwest with his wife Judie Meyer and Tracie; the first of their three children. Roger and Judie settled in Spokane, Washington where they had two more children; Tamara and Roger T. In 1979, after a divorce, he moved to Texas with his three children to be closer to his brother, Ken, and his family. Roger Hawk was a very loving father, proud grandfather, a new great grandfather, wonderful brother, son, uncle as well as a very loyal friend. Roger had a fun-loving, outgoing personality that never met a stranger. He was an animal lover that had a soft spot for his pups. Roger enjoyed playing golf. He also enjoyed watching and playing many other sports. Most of all Roger loved his family. He showed so much pride watching his children and grandchildren play sports, march in bands, play instruments in concerts, sing in choirs, earn awards and graduate. Roger was always their biggest fan. You couldnt miss him in a crowd when he would shout out, "Beauty, Beauty!". He was beaming with pride. Roger had two daughters and one son. His oldest daughter, Tracie, lives in McKinney, Texas with her husband, Chris Bell, Sr. They have two boys; Christopher Jr. and Dalton. Dalton has Rogers first great grandchild, Branon, a 15 month old baby girl. Rogers second daughter, Tamara, also lives in McKinney, Texas with her husband, Eugene (Geno) Ross, Jr. Roger's youngest pride was his son, Roger T., Roger T. lives in Little Elm, Texas with his wife, Sherrie Davis Hawk. Roger T. and Sherri together have two daughters; Brittnee and Courtnee. Roger T. has a daughter Brittany that lives in Washington. Roger spent the majority of his working life in sales and real estate where he met many of his lifelong friends. He spent a lot of time volunteering for all sorts of special events but his favorite was playing Santa Clause. He was such a wonderful Santa Clause. Roger loved seeing children light up when they saw him dressed up in his red and white coat and pants, long white beard (usually the real deal) and his bold joyful laugh. In 2003, Roger was recognized with an honorary plaque from Pat Evans, the Mayor of Plano, for volunteering as the City of Plano Santa Clause at the annual Dickens Festival for over a decade. This plaque declared the first Friday of every December "Roger Hawk Day". This was a very proud and humbling achievement. Roger is preceded in death by his parents; Robert Hawk (July 18, 1979) and Alberta S. Halverson Hawk (January 9, 1983), as well as his younger brother Gary Hawk (May 23, 2007). Roger is survived by his brother, Kenneth Hawk, sister in law Dorothy Hawk, his three children and their spouses; Tracie and Chris Bell, Sr., Tamara and Eugene Ross, Jr., and Roger and Sherrie Hawk, Roger's five grandchildren; Dalton Bell, Christopher Bell, Jr., Brittnee Hawk, Courtnee Hawk, and Brittany Hawk, his only great grandchild, Branon Bell, as well as many surviving nieces, nephews, cousins and lifelong friends. He was a very blessed man. His memorial celebration will be held at 11:00 am on Wednesday, March 14, 2018 at Messiah Lutheran Church, 1801 West Plano Parkway, Plano, Texas 75075. A luncheon will follow at the same location.
