Henrietta M. Cutler, age 94, passed away peacefully on Sunday, February 18, 2024 . She was born on March 8, 1929, in New York to first generation immigrant parents Robert and Bernadine Mielke. She grew up a city girl through and through and loved every minute of it. In her twenties, Henrietta, more often known fondly as "Mickie," worked as a merchandiser for Macmillan Publishers. She married her beau, Bernard Robert Cutler, in November of 1953. Throughout her thirties, Mickie raised three children and worked part time to help support the household while Bernard worked days and took college courses in the evenings. During this time, she was the consummate Mom: ferrying kids to music and dance lessons, serving as a girl scout leader, and joining various school committees. In her early forties, Bernard passed away (January 1976). Despite this sudden loss, she continued to care for her family while also stepping into a new role as the director of environmental services at a local retreat for children with disabilities. Mickie enjoyed this new position and had a knack for working with children. She worked at the retreat up until retirement at 64, after which she moved to Tampa, Florida. Even having formally retired, Henrietta continued to work with children as a part of a Hillsboro public school after-school program until the age of 88. Mickie loved to read. She was veracious, going through several books weekly. She loved to travel and eat delicious food, Italian being her favorite. This wise woman loved her carbs! She loved on her friends, her family and her grandchildren, as well as her favorite tiny adopted chiweenie dog named "little man". Mickie's entire life was a shining example of love, strength, compassion, and kindness.
