Obituary

Herman Wilson of McKinney (formerly of Navasota & Bryan-College Station), age 73, passed away on Wednesday, March 7, 2018. A native Texan, avid golfer and life-long Spurs fan, he was born in San Antonio, on February 2, 1945 to James and Melinda (Taylor) Wilson. After graduating high school, Herman enlisted and traveled the world, proudly serving his country in the United States Navy, until his retirement in 1984 with 22 years of dedicated and decorated service, including a tour in Korea and two tours in Vietnam. Herman then returned to Texas, with his family, to begin a second career with the Texas Department of Criminal Justice, once again retiring with over twenty years of distinguished service. Herman is survived by his loving children Devlin Jackson, Artecia Wilson, and Natashia Wilson; his grandchildren Christopher Basha and De'Lacia Jackson; his siblings Harry Wilson, Helen Roberson, Douglas Wilson, Linda Wilson, Marvin Wilson, and Carol Smith; his former wife Eloise (Kilpatrick) Wilson; and a host of nephews, nieces, extended family, friends and loved ones. He was preceded in death by his parents, James and Malinda Wilson, his sisters Viola West and Nettie Barclay, and former wife Johnetta (Jackson) Wilson. He will be deeply missed by his friends, family, and all who knew & loved him. A graveside service will be held on Tuesday, March 13, at 11:00 am, at the Dallas-Fort Worth National Cemetery, 2000 Mountain Creek Pkwy, in Dallas, with Rev. Daniel F. Dalton, Sr. presiding.
