Obituary

Marion Patricia Hodnicki, age 83, passed away in Plano, Texas peacefully on November 18th 2014 surrounded by family members. She is preceded in death by her husband of 57 wonderful years; Edward Hodnicki Sr. Marion is survived by her son, Edward Hodnicki and wife, JoElyn, of Plano, grandson, Justin Hodnicki, of Dallas, granddaughter, Amanda Wise and her husband, Randy, and great granddaughter, Natalie, of Belleville, KS. Originally from Bremerhaven Germany, Marion endured the many struggles of WWII including bombed out dwellings and bomb shelters to living on the edge day to day. The experience had a profound influence on her life and inspired her to live each day to the fullest & appreciate what she had and could share with others. She was a war bride and immigrated to the US where she became a naturalized citizen in 1957. She was extremely proud to be a US citizen; she lived in Camden, Lindenwold, NJ and later in Plano, Texas. She often spoke of how she met her husband and how he managed to serenade her under her window one night, singing songs about "Blondie" while his friend played a guitar. At first, she was not encouraged by his talents or approach, but, after relentless pursuit, the two later dated, fell in love and lived a long and happy life together. Marion held many jobs and positions in her life but was most proud of her time with The United Food and Commercial Workers Union where she was a member for over 30 years. Her family and friends were the center of her life and she loved to spend as much time with each as possible. Marion was a wonderful cook and hostess. She loved to host parties and delighted in entertaining folks as well as talking up a storm. She could talk longer than anyone we knew. She was a dedicated caregiver to her husband in his time of need; she never complained and was always there for him. They were a wonderful couple, and dedicated parents, grandparents and friends. Marion's absence will leave a void in our lives and in all the lives of those who knew her. Relatives and friends of the family are invited to attend a memorial service to be held Saturday, December 6th 2014. Services will begin at noon at the Danks-Hinski Funeral Home located at 125 N. White Horse Pike, Lindenwold, NJ 08021. In lieu of flowers, donations made to one of her favorite charities would be appreciated.
