Jimmy Wayne "J.W." Holt, 80, of Carthage, TX, passed away peacefully in his sleep on September19, 2014 in Dallas, TX. Mr. Holt was born in Henderson, TX on April 16, 1934. He moved to Carthage in 1946, at the age of 12. Having made Carthage his home for the next 67 years, he was proud to be a Panola Countian. Mr. Holt was an avid outdoorsman, fisherman, and hunter. He was extremely talented with his hands, particularly with construction projects. He possessed a wry, dry sense of humor. Although, timid and shy by nature, he would talk your ear off when discussing world political events. He was a life-long Republican and member of the NRA. He was an avid weather watcher. J.W. graduated from Carthage High School in 1953. He then had a long career working for his father, O.L. Holt, in his Construction Company. He was also employed by United Gas Pipeline Company for many years. Mr. Holt was a proud member of Southside Baptist Church in Carthage. He was preceded in death by his father, O.L. Holt; his mother, Willie Mae Holt; his sister, Fay Fowler, and his wife, Linda Kay Holt. He is survived by his son, Kip Holt of Dallas, TX; his brother & sister-in-law, Onie Holt, Jr & Mary Nell Holt of Gladewater, TX; brother-in-law, Andy Fowler, of Crockett, TX; and numerous nephews & a beloved niece. A Memorial Service in Celebration of Mr. Holt's Life will be held at Southside Baptist Church on Saturday, October 11, 2014 at 1:00 P.M., with Rev Kirby Hill officiating. A Private Ceremony to Sprinkle his ashes will be held immediately after.
