Born on August 4, 1957, in Waco, Texas, Doug (as his family and friends called him) died in Plano, Texas on June 16, 2015 at the age of 57. He was a natural born athlete and excelled in baseball. His father coached and both parents went to every game from Little League through college. He went to Richfield High School in Waco and then TCU in Ft. Worth for college. Playing baseball in college was viewed by him as a highlight of his life. After living in California for awhile, he came back to settle in Texas, first in Waco, and then in Beaumont. Five years ago, he moved to the Plano area to care for and live with his Mother, then approaching her 90s. He had a passion for helping and caring for animals, especially abandoned dogs. He is preceded in death by his father and mother, W.D. (Bud) and Loretta Hudspeth. He is survived by his sister and her husband, Laurann Sutton Pratt and Dean Pratt, a niece, Michelle Sutton Gifford and nephew and wife, James and Cassie Sutton, 2 great nieces, 3 great nephews, his uncle and aunt, Reginald and Sherilyn Smith, and numerous cousins and second cousins. Mr. Hudspeth will be buried in Waco with his parents. A private graveside service will be held. May he rest in peace in the arms of a loving, caring, and merciful Lord.
