Obituary

Paul V. Huff II, aged 65, passed away at Baylor Medical Center, Dallas, Texas, on Jan. 6, 2014. Born and raised in Martinsburg, he made Dallas his home for over 20 years, having previously lived in Philadelphia and Baltimore. He retired from Paymentech Inc., Dallas, in 2001. He was the first son of the late Paul Vinton and Mary Louise Arvin Huff, of Martinsburg. He is survived by his life partner of 38 years, Gordon L. Reed, at their home in Dallas; as well as his two beloved dogs, "Rudy" and "Pickles." Also surviving him is a brother, Craig L. Huff, of Shepherdstown; as well as many close friends in Dallas and his best friend of over 40 years, David (Pete) Powell, of Martinsburg. He leaves two nephews, two nieces, as well as two aunts, one uncle and 13 cousins, locally and throughout the country. He was a member of the Class of 1966, Martinsburg High School and a member of the United Methodist Church of Blairton, as well as the Cathedral of Hope, in Dallas. Mr. Huff was a Vietnam veteran, having served in 1969-70 and a Purple Heart recipient, earning the rank of sergeant. He had been close personal friends with entertainer Brenda Lee and husband, Ron Shacklett, of Nashville, for over 40 years. Memorial contributions may be sent in Pauls name to St. Jude Childrens Hospital, Memphis, Tenn., or the Berkeley County Animal Shelter. Personal condolences or messages may be sent to Gordon L. Private and invitation- only services and interment will be held at a later date in the Huff family plot in Smoketown Cemetery, Martinsburg. The family plot was specifically chosen by him, due to its proximity to the childhood and family homes of both his parents. Paul was a true sentimetalist and believed family history was paramount.
