Obituary

Today we celebrate the life of Janet Hughes, born in Chicago to Clarence James Hughes and Jewel Holaman Hughes. She has been a proud Dallas resident since age 2, and graduated from Highland Park High School and attended SMU. Janet was a joyful Bluebird/Campfire Girls leader, worked in construction accounting, and retired from DalMac Construction. She remained an avid bridge player and Rangers Baseball fan throughout her life. Preceding her in death was her son, Carleton Hughes Sherman. She is survived by two sisters, Alice Elsby and Pat Hartwig, three daughters, Andrea Sherman, Cynthia (and Harry) Smith and Dd Adams. In addition, she leaves behind grandchildren Jared (and Nikki) Adams, Evan (and Fabiola) Adams, Carleton (and Melanie) Sherman, Wayne Smith and Audrey Smith. Her great-grandchildren include Jillian and Declan Adams. Services are planned for Friday, June 17, 2016 at 2:00 pm at the Episcopal Church of the Epiphany, 421 Custer Rd, Richardson, TX 75080. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Outreach Ministries of Church of the Epiphany (epiphany-richardson.org) or to Austin Street Center (austinstreet.org) in Dallas. Rest in peace, Mom. Your friends and family love you. You will remain in our hearts forever. Angel of God My guardian dear To Whom His love Commits me here Ever this day Be at my side To light and guard To rule and guide. Amen Glory be to the Father and to the Son and to the Holy Spirit. As it was in the beginning is now, and ever shall be, world without end. Amen.
