HURLEY, DOROTHY MARIE Passed July 1, 2014 in Dallas, TX. Survived by her five children Dennis Hurley, Lynn Hurley, Danny Hurley and his wife Jean Hurley, Susy Johnston and her husband Morgan Johnston, Jennifer Bubel and her husband Jack Bubel. She is also survived by her nine grandchildren: Erin Hurley, Shannon Hurley, Ben Hurley, Sam Hurley, Natalie Johnston, Alex Johnston, Samantha Johnson, Caitlin Bubel and Ethan Bubel. Born October 17, 1927 in Brenham, TX she spent her career as a nurse, receiving recognition by those at Presbyterian Village North for her dedication and service, where she did not miss a day in 25 years. Her strength of character, resilience, and love of chocolate cake will never be forgotten. A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, July 5th at 10am at St. Monica Church of Dallas with Reception directly following. She is preceded in death by her husband Daniel Kevin Hurley who she shared in many adventures with as they both loved to travel, and on numerous occasions they were brave and crazy enough to take all five children along for the ride in their RV. She would fondly reminisce about all the places he took her to as she was from a small town and had wanted from an early age to see what else the world had to offer. In College she was voted "Most Beautiful" and always had a flair for fashion and shopping and anything sweet. She was known for her beauty and color coordinating and "never enough" collection of shoes and purses but will be remembered for her spirit and the ability to withstand anything, including an RV of children. "we should be remembered for the things we do. The things we do are the most important things of all. They are more important than what we say or what we look like. The things we do outlast our mortality. The things we do are like monuments that people build to honour heroes after theyve died. Theyre like the pyramids that the Egyptians built to honour the Pharaohs. Only instead of being made out of stone, theyre made out of the memories people have of you.
