Obituary

Edward Daniel "Dan" Hushfield Jr., age 86, passed away on Thursday, January 29, 2015. He was born on June 24, 1928 in New Orleans, Louisiana. He was a loving and devoted Husband, Father and Grandfather. Dan grew up on a farm near Morgan City, LA. As a young adult he had a variety of jobs including working on shrimp boats in the Gulf and assistant manager for a grocery store. He then served in the Air Force for 4 years. It was during his time in the Air Force that he met and married his wife of 58 years, Alberta Hushfield. Dan spent most of his career working for International Harvester as a Financial Manager. Subsequent to this he worked for a manufacturing company as the Corporate Controller. Dan was very active in the church during his life including many years working with the Youth Group as well as serving as an Usher. His faith was the most important thing in his life and he set a great example for all who knew him. He was very passionate about golf and played as often as he was able to. Dan also enjoyed watching sports and was a huge Dallas Cowboys fan. He loved to joke and tease and continued to do so even through the end, joking with the hospital staff during some very difficult times. Dan has been reunited in heaven with his wife, Alberta Hushfield, who preceded him in death. Dan is survived by his sons, Jeff Hushfield of Plano Texas, and Eddie Hushfield of Richardson, Texas, and daughter, Joan Matz of Naranjal, Costa Rica. He also leaves behind four grandchildren Jason Morales, Mitchell Hushfield, Allison Morales and Eric Hushfield. Funeral services will take place at 1:00 p.m., Tuesday February 3, 2015 at Richardson Church of the Nazarene, 2101 E. Renner Road in Richardson, Texas.
