Iglesias Ragudo
Dadivas
Dec 14, 1938 — Apr 7, 2025
Iglesias "Glesy" Ragudo Dadivas – Beloved Mother Nana Sister Auntie Ninang Tita & Friend - passed away peacefully the night of April 7, 2025, listening to evening Mass and surrounded by family.
Born December 14, 1938, in Quezon Philippines – Glesy was "Letter I", the ninth child of Concepion Carneo Mercado Ragudo and Felipe Valencia Ragudo. Her parents had 10 children, naming them in alphabetical order from A to J. Glesy was born prematurely and petite therefore she was also affectionately known as "Nini"and later "Auntie Nini" by her nieces and nephews.
Glesy attended elementary thru high school in Lucena City. She attended Luzonian College for high school where she was involved in different school activities, holding positions in student government and always competing for the honor roll. She was also an active member of the Girl Scout Organization of the Philippines and was named Girl Scout of the Year her senior year. After high school, Glesy was accepted into the University of the Philippines as a nursing student on full scholarship.
In 1961, at the young age of 23, this brave and adventurous young nurse left for the United States on the exchange student visitor program. She was assigned to Cook County Hospital in Chicago, IL. In 1964, upon completion of this student program, Glesy once again relocated to Ottawa, Ontario, Canada where she was employed at Ottawa Civic Hospital. A young Filipino architect followed her all the way to Canada. In 1969, she married Primitivo "Dadjie" Dadivas at St. Elizabeth's Catholic Church in Ottawa. A few years later, their visas were approved to return to the United States so they chose the New York dream and settled in the Bronx. Glesy started working at the Bronx VA Hospital. In 1973, their first daughter, Cynthia "Cindy", was born. Their second daughter, Tricia, came along in 1976. Now their Bronx apartment suddenly became too small for this young family so they scraped together all their funds and moved into a condo in Yonkers – where they could send Cindy to Catholic school at Our Lady of Fatima.
Eventually, Dadjie's profession would lead them to another move – this time across states to St. Louis, MO. Glesy continued her nursing career at the St. Louis VA Hospital and they became parishioners of Ste. Genevieve du Bois. In 1983, another professional relocation led the Dadivas family to Dallas, TX – their final relocation. Glesy was reunited with an old nursing friend from the Philippines who were already raising her family in Duncanville so that's where they purchased a home – in the neighborhood directly across from Holy Spirit Catholic Church where they remained parishioners for over 30 years. She continued her TICU nursing career at the Dallas VA Hospital eventually retiring with the VA System.
Glesy was affectionately known as "Nana" to her grandchildren: Austin, Asia, Addison, Lake, Noah, and Kyla. Glesy is preceded in death by her parents, Concepcion and Felipie; her husband of 52 years, Dadjie; her sisters Amparo, Belen, Delia, Emma, and Herminia; and her brothers Florido, Gardonio, and Josefino. She is survived by her daughters Cindy Dadivas Kayanan (Gar) and Tricia Dadivas Griffin (Bryan); her six grandchildren; her older sister, Carolina Ragudo Arriola; her Ragudo/Dadivas nieces and nephews – many close enough in age to be more like sisters and brothers; and her countless Ragudo/Dadivas grand-nieces and grand-nephews / great-grand-nieces and great-grand-nephews.
