Irmgard T. Reinhart passed away on the evening of June 30, 2026, at the age of 88. She was surrounded by her family, knew she was loved, and departed peacefully. 

Born on October 12, 1937, in Viersen, Germany, Irmgard lived a life filled with early childhood/adolescent hardships during and following World War II in Germany that was overcome with courage, perseverance, and her devoted family. She lost her father, in an Allied aircraft bombing raid over Bitburg, Germany on Christmas Eve 1944 and later lost her mother to cancer in 1960. In 1966, Irmgard travelled via ocean liner to the United States with her cousin. On her return trip from New York City to Southampton, England, she met Hans Peter Reinhart who was returning to Germany for a job interview. They were married in June 1968 and thereafter returned to the United States via ocean liner again to begin their life together in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania where Hans had enrolled in the MBA program at the Wharton School of Business. Their first son, Lars, was born in September 1969, after which Hans had to leave school and find a job to support their growing family. Hans gained employment with Sun Oil Company working in the finance department. In June 1972, they welcomed their second son Achim to the family. During the Texas oil boom in the early 1980’s, Sun Oil’s exploration and production division was transferred to Dallas. The family made their home in Richardson, Texas beginning in 1982. In September 1996, Hans and Irmgard proudly became citizens of the United States. 

Throughout the years, she was a devoted mother to her two boys and wife to Hans. Irmgard enjoyed several hobbies including off-loom weaving, macrame, ikebana flower arranging, cooking/baking, and reading. She had numerous multi-cultural friends over the years and was a member of the International Women’s Club and the Dallas Goethe Society. Hans and Irmgard regularly attended orchestra performances at SMU and the Meyerson, and always had classical music playing at home. She enjoyed following current events and news from Germany and throughout the world. She travelled back to Germany regularly with Hans and her boys to visit their extended family.

Family and friends were at the center of Irmgard’s life. She loved cooking, baking Christmas cookies with her boys and grandchildren, and passing down her German heritage and traditions through holiday decorations and the recipes she prepared. She treasured the time spent with her grandchildren. 

She is survived by her husband, Hans; her son Lars, daughter-in-law Kelley, and grandchildren Blake, Ella, and Chase; and her son Achim, daughter-in-law Ginger, and grandchildren Collin and Lauren; her sister, Gisela; her nephews, Uwe and Claus; and further extended family living in Germany. 

She will be remembered for her generosity, wisdom, creativity, and devotion to her family and friends. Her legacy lives on through the traditions she shared and created, her recipes she made and shared, and the many cherished memories she leaves with her family and friends. 

A celebration of life will be held to honor Irmgard’s memory on October 10, 2026 at 10 AM in the Presbyterian Village North Chapel located at 8600 Skyline Drive, Dallas, TX. 75243.
