Obituary

Jackson Wayne Brown, age 96, passed away on January 20, 2025, in Southlake, TX. He was born on June 13,1928 in Greeley, Colorado.

Jack graduated from Eaton High School in 1946 and immediately enlisted in the Navy. During his two-year enlistment he was stationed in Guam. He passed the requirements for 3rd Class Aerographers Mate and was his ship's weather officer on his trip back to the US. After discharge from the Navy, Jack attended the Colorado School of Mines where he graduated in 1952 with a degree in Geophysical Engineering.

Jack married Joanne Elaine West on September 7,1953 in Eaton, Colorado. The newlyweds soon moved to Montana where Jack worked on a seismograph crew for the exploration of petroleum products. Later moves took them to other locations in MT, CA, UT, WY, CO and finally, Dallas, Texas. Jack made a career move to Texas Instruments in 1958 where he worked in Human Resources and for several years was Vice President of T.I. Supply. After a twenty-plus years career at T.I., Jack retired. He became certified in real estate and financial planning, which he really enjoyed.

Any type of fishing, especially fly fishing, was always a passion of Jack's. He enjoyed planning family trips to the Rocky Mountains and traveled all over the U.S. with their camper or motorhome. Jack's adventurous side would drive his family of five, plus two grandparents, to Mexico City in the sixties by car.

Jack was a longtime Dallas Cowboys fan and enjoyed cheering for his four grandson's college football teams. He also enjoyed boating and waterskiing at Lake Dallas and singing in a Barbershop Chorus.

Jack was a proud veteran with a strong abiding faith in God. Jack and Joanne were always very active in their local churches and missions. He was proud his children and grandchildren shared in that legacy of loving and serving the Lord. Always grateful for his many blessings one of Jack's favorite expressions was "God is Good!"

Regarded for his thoughtful wisdom and experience, Jack always showed respect and generosity to others. He had the ability to focus on the proper priorities in life. His friends and family always enjoyed his wit and humor, especially in later years. A dedicated husband and caregiver, he cared lovingly for Joanne during her fifteen plus years with Parkinson's and displayed bravery and courage facing his own health trials and challenges in his later years.

Jack is survived by his daughters Melinda (Cary) Rogers and Diana (John) Delin, grandsons Brandon (Erica) Rogers, Brett (Lindsey) Rogers, Bryce Jackson (Laura) Delin, Ryan (Caroline) Delin and great-grandchildren Lillian Pendergrass, Janelle and Cole Jackson (Rogers), Abby and Lucy (Rogers), Jackson and Luke (Delin), Ella and Cooper Delin, as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his wife of 63 years, Joanne Elaine (West) Brown, brother Gordon Dewey Brown and his son David Wayne Brown.
