James Robert Brown passed away peacefully at home on 8/17/2026 at the age of 84 surrounded by his family.

Born in Lexington, Mississippi, Jimmy earned a Bachelor of Science from Delta State University and a Masters in Marketing from Mississippi State University. In 1976, he began a distinguished over 40-year career in the insurance industry with Corrigan- Jordan Insurance Agency. In 1981, he became a co-owner of the firm, one of the largest independently owned Agency in Dallas.

To his clients, Jimmy was far more than an insurance agent; he was an advisor, advocate and a good friend who was always there during life’s most difficult moments.

Beyond his professional life, Jimmy loved hunting, fishing, Ole Miss football and Oxford, MS. He enjoyed golfing only when it was necessary to be with his clients! He was a wonderful husband and father. He was the dad who volunteered his time to coach Little League baseball and middle school football. Always taking our children on outings & family vacations bringing along their friends. All their friends loved him.

Jimmy is survived by his beloved wife of 59 years, Nancy Dunn Brown; his children Melissa Brown Margolin and Chandler Robert Brown; his grandchildren Cole Edward Margolin and Cate Elisabeth Margolin; his sister Andrea Brown Forbes; his brother-in-law Eddie Dunn and his wife Judy Dunn; his niece Jennifer Polansky and his nephew Craig Dunn.

But no matter how long he lived in Texas, Jimmy never forgot his Mississippi roots and all his friends he grew up with. They loved him and he loved them.
