Obituary

James Douglas 'Doug' Murray of Frisco, TX passed away peacefully on June 13, 2024 surrounded by his family. He was 66.

Born June 20, 1957 in Winter Park, Florida, he was the son of his late father, Jim Murray, and mother Marjorie Silverio. While in high school, Doug discovered his love for flying. Doug entered basic military training in the United States Air Force in 1977, going on to become an Air Traffic Controller. After completing his degree at Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University, he commissioned as an officer and began pilot training in 1983. He achieved his dream of becoming a fighter pilot, flying the F-16 in multiple worldwide operations and combat zones, until his retirement in 2000 as a Lieutenant Colonel. From there, Doug flew for FedEx Express, most recently as a Boeing 777 Captain, and retired in December 2021.

Doug is preceded in death by his father, Jim Murray, daughter Jenna Murray, and his best friend/golden retriever companion Charlie.

Doug is survived by his wife of twelve years, Sonia Murray, his children: Jacob Murray (Deirdre), Jillian Murray (Monica), and Alexandria Elston; his stepchildren: Anna and Marc Borbonus; his granddaughters: Molly and Maisie Murray; his mother, Marjorie Silverio, brothers and sisters: Chuck Murray, Dave Murray (Denise), Patty Johnson (Gary), and Maryann Abbott (Chris), countless nieces, nephews, and cousins.
