James Gordon
Pierson
Jul 21, 1943 — Jul 13, 2024
James Pierson, 80, passed away peacefully at home in McKinney,Texas.
James began his life in Waco, Texas. We like to think that he sailed away from us to gentler shores.
In his younger years, James spent time in Japan and later in Dallas, Texas. He was veteran of the U.S. Coast Guard where he served on Wake Island and in New Orleans. He married Lina and lived in North Richland Hills for forty years. During retirement, he found joy in sailing regattas, taking classes at the community college, collecting coins, cooking, and traveling with his wife.
James was quick to make friends and always ready to offer a cold drink. He enjoyed entertaining anyone who showed up on his back deck, offering his friendship easily. He was direct and determined, but also incredibly generous and warm. He could always be counted on for a ride to the airport or to fix a broken AC unit in the summer.
Even after his car keys were taken away, his lively personality shone through. One of his last spirited adventures included a ride to the liquor store on a lawn mower.
His last days were spent with his devoted wife of 56 years. He is survived by his wife, children, grandchildren, siblings, favorite cousin, and a lifelong friend whom he loved as a brother. Many nieces and nephews will also remember his humor and generosity.
We are incredibly thankful to family, friends, and caregivers that supported James over the years. You will forever hold a special place in our heart for your kindness and friendship.
