Edward Ernest Jarman, beloved husband, father and friend, died on September 12, 2017. Ed was born October 20, 1936 to Dorothy and Thomas Jarman in Baltimore, Maryland. He grew up in Philadelphia and attended college at the University of Alabama before transferring to the Citadel where he majored in Civil Engineering. Ed graduated from the Citadel in 1960 and began his commission in the US Army, where he served through two tours of Vietnam. Ed was a member of Special Forces and was a Green Beret. Ed achieved the rank of Major in the US Army and began life as a Civilian in 1975 in Harlingen, TX where he lived until 2000 when he and his wife Donna moved to Richardson, TX. Ed was very active with the Elks and Lions in Harlingen and was a very active volunteer with the Harlingen Police Department, the Dallas Police Department and the Richardson Police Department. Between the three Police Departments, Ed logged over 4000 volunteer hours. As a young adult, Ed enjoying racing Corvettes and skydiving, a sport where Ed was very proud of the fact that he had over 600 successful jumps. Ed was also a very active member of the Dallas Pistol Club. One of Ed's favorite songs is the Ballad of the Green Berets. Ed is survived by his wife of over 50 years, Donna, his daughters Joan and Sandra, his son-in-law Blake, his grandsons John, Preston and Julian, his sister Jerre and numerous other cousins, nieces and nephews. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in Ed's memory to Honor Flight Austin. Ed will be interred at the DFW National Cemetery at 1 PM on Thursday September 28, 2017 with full military honors.
