Obituary

Jeanette Rita Sanders of Dallas passed away on July 8, 2023. She was 86 years old. Jeanette was born in Dallas to Max and Ray Ella Goodman. After graduating from Forest Avenue High School at 16, she went on to the University of Texas and graduated with a Bachelor of Arts in English. Following graduation, she became a stewardess for Braniff Airlines, a job she loved. On June 24, 1962, she married Philip Sanders, and their union lasted 58 years until his death. Together, they founded Cowboy Chicken in 1981, paving the way for the company it is today. Jeanette continued to work for Cowboy Chicken until her final days, and enjoyed meeting the customers, some of whom became close friends. She was preceded in death by her husband and parents and is survived by her daughters Lisa Sanders and Allison Sanders, both of Dallas. Jeanette, whose capacity for love was endless, was fiercely devoted to her family and her large circle of friends, which included Sean and Vickie Kennedy, her pals from Braniff and many others. Jeanette's greatest joys included being with her loved ones, cooking amazing meals, watching British television, showering attention on her pets, traveling and reading. She was one of definite opinions, which tickled her family. But she loved the Lord above all else, and His presence in her life was a great blessing. A memorial service will be held on Friday, July 21, at 10 a.m. in the Cox Chapel at Highland Park United Methodist Church, 3300 Mockingbird Road, Dallas, Texas, 75205. The family is grateful to the doctors and nurses at Parkland Memorial Hospital in Dallas for their extraordinary care, and in lieu of flowers, asks that donations be made in her memory to Parkland.
