Toshiko Jedlicka was born in Ibaraki-ken, Japan on January 1, 1935 to Hajime Katsuyama and Taka Yanagi Katsuyama. Ms. Jedlicka passed away on March 18, 2018 at the age of 83. She is survived by her daughter, Maya Jedlicka, and a brother and sister in Japan, Kunio Yanagi, and Keiko Koori. Ms. Jedlicka received her bachelor's degree from Tokyo's Rikkyo University in 1958, then her Masters degree in Asian Languages from the University of Hawaii in 1971. She taught Japanese at the University of Hawaii and later taught Japanese at John Tyler High School, Ohio University, and Georgia Southern University. Ms. Jedlicka was a devoted mother and always smiling and sweet to friends and neighbors. Some of her favorite pastimes were listening to classical music, opera, and reading.
