Obituary for Jerald Bruce Cameron
Jerald Bruce Cameron, born September 19, 1954, in San Benito, Texas, passed away at home in Plano, Texas on Sunday, April 19th, 2026, surrounded by the love of a large and devoted family. Jerry's life was marked by quiet strength, loyalty, and a deep commitment to the people he cared for. He was a man who showed his love through action, steadiness, and presence — the kind of person whose reliability became a foundation for others.
After High School graduation, Jerry built his career from the ground up, working various jobs during the day and package stores at night. He ignited his career at Power Equipment in Corpus Christi, where he took the helm as Vice President and built an industry-leading sales & marketing division from scratch. Grinding through the world of heavy-duty truck parts, he personally engineered the systems for sales, operations, and distribution that kept the business moving through several phases of growth. Jerry was instrumental in finding manufacturing partners in Mexico that would private-label products, allowing for larger margins and company expansion through Houston and Dallas markets, eventually spreading to multistate operations. His early chapter was defined by raw hustle and operational grit, establishing the relentless, systems-driven leadership style that would define his entire trajectory.
His next chapter took him to Cameron Marketing Group, where he excelled as a business and marketing consultant for larger global clients. Jerry worked with companies such as Volvo Trucking, offering insight, strategy, and a practical understanding of how to help businesses grow.
He later joined CAMCO, his brother Jimmy's company, where he cherished the opportunity to work alongside his family and loved being part of the family business, continuing to apply his sharp business instincts in a place that meant so much to him.
Jerry is survived by his wife, Debbie Cameron, who was his partner in every sense of the word. He leaves behind his sons, Scott Cameron and wife Kristina, and Chris Cameron and wife Amy. Jerry was immensely proud of his grandchildren — Evelyn, Olivia, Caroline, Cohen, and Chloe — each of whom brought him joy and carried forward his spirit in their own ways.
He is also survived by his niece Samantha Strick; his sister‑in‑law Tammie Sommerlatte; his sister Danie'le Dusek and her children John and Joe; his brother Jimmy Cameron and wife Paula, and their children James, Trisha, Stephen, and Patty; and his brother Gene and wife Trina, along with their sons Nic and Brandon. Jerry is further survived by his surrogate mother, Elda Williams, who remained an important presence in his life. He also leaves behind his beloved dog, Bailey, affectionately known as his "loyal subject", who brought him constant companionship and joy.
Jerry had a playful, curious spirit that showed up in the things he loved. He enjoyed playing golf — though he'd be the first to admit he was much better at watching it. He had a knack for finding treasures online, happily browsing and shopping on Amazon or anywhere else he could explore something new. He enjoyed following the stock market, treating it like both a hobby and a puzzle. And wherever Jerry went, his beloved dog Bailey was never far behind. Bailey accompanied him on countless errands — to the laundry, Starbucks, taking Debbie's car to the car wash — happily riding along as Jerry made even the simplest outings feel like small adventures. Whether it was golf, stocks, shopping for anything and everything, or running around town with Bailey, Jerry found joy in the little rituals that made each day interesting.
He was also generous to a fault. If you mentioned you liked something, the next thing you knew, Jerry had ordered it for you. He was a purveyor of goodwill, showing his appreciation by handing out crisp two-dollar bills everywhere he went — a small gesture that left a big impression.
And Jerry had style. Bold, quirky, unmistakably his style. The louder the better — matching shoes, belt, pants, glasses, socks, and shirt. He was a fashionista in the most joyful sense of the word, turning every outfit into a celebration of color and personality.
His family was large, but he made each person feel seen. His legacy lives on in the stories shared at family gatherings, in the lessons he passed down, and in the quiet strength he modeled throughout his life.
A visitation and time of greeting with the family will begin at 10:00 a.m. on Thursday, April 30th, 2026, followed by a memorial service at 11:00 a.m. at Saint Andrew's Methodist Church, 5801 W. Plano Pkwy, Plano, TX 75093.
In lieu of flowers, and in honor of Jerry's generous spirit, the family invites those wishing to do so to make a donation to Rice Medical Center Building Fund - Jerry Cameron Memorial, P.O. Box 277, Eagle Lake, TX 77434, or to a meaningful charity of their choice in Jerry's honor.
Those who knew Jerry will remember him with gratitude, affection, and a sense of enduring connection.
