Jerry Edward Andrlik, 82, passed away after collapsing on the Hills Course of the Clubs of Prestonwood on May 12, 2025. He always loved golfing there with his friends in the Senior Men's Golf Association.
Jerry was born on May 15, 1942, in Chicago, Illinois to Jerry Andrlik and Bernadine (Bernice) Agnes Tyk. After graduating from Lyons Township High School in LaGrange, Illinois, where he had a weekend job as a caddy at the golf club, he attended the University of Wisconsin at Madison. He later transferred to Oklahoma State University where he earned his Bachelor of Science degree in Industrial Engineering and Management. In 1972, he received his Master of Science degree in Engineering Management from Southern Methodist University, and on June 17 of that year, he married Mary Katherine Burnett in Cheyenne, Wyoming. In 1975 he attained his Professional Engineer license from the State of Delaware.
His first career began with the U.S. Air Force when he enlisted in1962. After finishing his B.S. degree at OSU, he was commissioned 2nd Lt. and later sent to flight school in Del Rio, Texas. He was transferred to HQ 7th Air Force Saigon, South Vietnam in1968. From that service he was awarded the Bronze Star Medal. Jerry was stationed at Eglin AFB, FL, and Dover AFB, DE before moving to Fairfax, VA to work for HQ USAF at the Pentagon. The final station of his military career was the Defense Nuclear Agency in Alexandria, VA, when he retired as Lt. Col. in April 1984.
In May 1984, Jerry began his second career in Dallas, TX, coordinating government contracts for defense aerospace companies, first working on the B2 Stealth Bomber Project and later moving to the commercial aerospace industry. He retired permanently in 2006 to spend more time golfing, traveling, and enjoying friends and family. He was a member of Saint Michael and All Angels Episcopal Church in Dallas for over 40 years, where he volunteered for several years with Saint Michael Presents and Project Moses.
Jerry is survived by his wife, Mary, son John, sister Linda and brother-in-law Steve Piwowarczyk, nephews Daniel and Nathan, of Illinois, brother Thomas Andrlik and nephew Thomas, Jr. of Arizona, and his two Scottie dogs, Angus and Owen.
A Memorial service will be held Friday, May 30, at 10:00 a.m. at Saint Michael and All Angels Episcopal Church in the Saint Michael Chapel at Douglas and Colgate in Dallas, Texas. A reception will follow the service at the Park City Club, 5956 Sherry Lane, Suite 1700, Dallas, TX 75225. In lieu of flowers, a donation may be made to the All Angels Foundation, 8011 Douglas Ave., Dallas, TX 75225 or to the charity of your choice.
